Cuss words, or profanity, are instances of socially offensive language. At their first meeting, The Stranger asks The Dude if he could stop using so many of them. As The Dude did not know what the fuck he was talking about, he consequently had it his way. The Dude also refers to Woo as a Chinaman, which by the early nineties was no longer the preferred nomenclature.
